This is the part 2 of a simple steps blog on reducing your screen time (read the first part here). If that's something that resonates with you then this blog I'm going to go through just a few ways that you could get started.
There's lots of benefits to the technology that we have these days, but they can also really keep us in a state of not being present and not being aware of ourselves. And actually being a slave to other people and when they want us, that we respond rather than we us being in control of how we spend our day and our time.
So a few options is that firstly turning off your notifications.
In your settings you can turn off notifications for different apps, maybe it's not all of them, maybe at some of them. But then you don't get that temptation to keep checking or as soon as the phone buzzes or pings that you that you need to take a look. You can choose when you take a look.
The second option is that there is actually apps to monitor the amount of screen time.
So it seems a bit ironic but you can download apps which then tell you how much time you're spending on your screen and that might be something that you try and slowly reduce over period of days or weeks.
Then thirdly it's perhaps an option of turning your phone off thirty to sixty minutes before going to bed.
One of the holistic benefits that I talked about in the first video was that it affects our sleep when we're watching or watching TV or on our phone or doing that last minute scroll. So turning off any screens 30 to 60 minutes before and maybe time to fitting in another good habit for a happy, nice bedtime routine.
So three options pick one, commit to one, see how it goes and just also check in and see how you're feeling as a result of reducing your screen time.
