Thursday Thought - Clarity

So welcome to another week's Thursday's thought and this week I'm thinking about the idea of clarity.

Often my clients come to me saying they don't feel clear, they just don't know where to start, there's too many things going on;
Work is stressful,
They're busy at home with the children,
They don't get the time with their partner that they want,
They're trying to start a new diet or exercise program,
They know they should be being more mindful or starting a meditation routine but they just don't have time.

And it all has a knock-on effect on each other.

They just don't know where to start.

I had a client recently who before our first call had written out all the things she felt she needed to do to help her practically as well as emotionally with her self-belief and she had two pages of A4 of different things to do.

She came to me, she says "I know what I need to do, I just don't know where to start."

With two pages worth of things to start doing, no wonder it's overwhelming.

There's so much information out there of what we can be doing to better ourselves or change our situations or to help us feel calmer or to lose weight, that it can end up being too much.

One of the first steps in the process that I go through with clients is to help them feel clearer is to have clarity on where to start.

Where to start from a practical point of view but also what's really important is getting clearer on actually what's going on underneath?
What's keeping you in the same patterns of starting a diet but never quite finishing it?
Or yo-yoing?
Or getting into a relationship it finishing for whatever reason but then getting into the same situation again and it's a unhelpful or unhealthy relationship?

It's the deeper patterns and behaviours that are causing that, and having clarity on that is really important to be able to break the habits and make lasting positive changes.

To me clarity is its twofold it is knowing where to start but it's also understanding yourself.

90% of our thoughts are subconscious and therefore that's affecting our actions and our behaviours and understanding that is really key to making those external changes and then allowing them to be lasting changes.

If you want any more information about that, clarity is one of the three steps in my free download on my website three steps to well-being. It's just a beginning to get you thinking about what clarity is to you and therefore knowing where you should start.
