In this week's Thursday's Thought I'm covering the topic of why within our business at Pura Vida Living we take a holistic approach.
It's something that often comes up in conversation when I'm talking about the work I do, and very much with my clients they might come with one particular idea or concern that we take a holistic approach. And I want to just explain why that is.
So firstly it's that we're all unique individuals, and so is your path to well-being.
People might come to me with different stresses, different concerns, different goals. But it's about being able to take an overview of your current life, maybe people think the stress is currently or focused around work, but actually that has a knock-on effect on your family life, your self-confidence, your health.
And so looking at just one segment might solve a problem but it's likely to still reoccur unless you look at the whole picture.
Secondly it's about also looking internally and externally. Although firstly I look at the whole picture externally in the different areas, different segments of your life. It's also about what's going on internally, we're whole beings, we're physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and looking at all of these things brings everything together, and again that's what I refer to as holistic approach.
For example if somebody wants to lose weight, maybe they're doing really well with their food, their intake, their nutrition and they're exercising regularly. And yet the fat just isn't shifting and because, if you just looking at what's happening physically, you think why? But it's important to also look at what's going on mentally, emotionally.
If you're in a stressed state, your body, your hormones are telling your body to keep hold of that fat. If you're in a flight or fight response, it doesn't know when you're going to need it for your survival.
So just looking at what's going on physically isn't the whole picture we need to also look at what's going on mentally and emotionally.
That's just one example with everything there's external things we can be doing but there's also internal things to look at how we're keeping ourselves in the same re-occurring patterns.
They're the two main reasons I look at a holistic approach.
Firstly it's taking an overview of your life, not just looking at it where you initially think the problem might be occurring.
But also looking at what's going on internally and externally in order to get those lasting results.
There's more resources on my website, if you want a free download about the three steps to well-being then you can head over to my website and download that.
Hopefully this will help you to find your path to well-being.
